Art in Maupertuus
Hidden in the scenic beauty of the landscape of Limburg, about 10 kilometer to the north of Maastricht, you will find Galerie Art in Maupertuus.
The exhibition room (80m2) is designed in an austere style, because of the design and professional lighting the attention will remain on the exhibited art.
The gallery is divided over two floors. Well-known and contemporary artists display their work on the ground level. From time to time, new talent will be given the opportunity to exhibit their work in the basement. Also students from academies of arts occasionally show their creations – provided that the art is on a high level; in some cases those art works are for sale.
The concept of the gallery: exhibited art has a positive atmosphere, primary colors often return and the art works are neatly finished. The artists put a lot of care into their work. They are professionals. Quality has a price.
Gallery owner Aukje Willemsen-Steensma is in direct contact with the exhibiting artists. Exhibitions have a duration of 6 to 8 weeks. In this period paintings of 2 or 3 artists are shown in the gallery along with 3-dimensional art works (ceramic, bronze, steel and glass).
Every year, from approximately June up to the end of July, the gallery hosts a summer exhibition. During this period many promising artists show their work.
Based on the interaction with visitors Aukje searches for the balance between identification and innovation.
